As a valued Cathedral Hearing patient we want to make sure you know what you can expect from us going forward.
Follow up appointments/reviews
Proactive aftercare and follow up is an important part of our philosophy. Whether you visit us for earwax removal, routine hearing testing or hearing aids, our friendly team will ensure that you are well cared for and followed up on a regular basis.
We offer routine wax checks every 1-2 years depending on your history and level of build-up, annual hearing testing for non-hearing aid wearers and for our hearing aid patients, regular servicing and follow-ups as well as annual testing and hearing aid reprogramming.
Hearing aids also require regular care and maintenance. We will discuss your individual requirements and will usually see you every 3-6 months for a service check. We will also make sure you have the supplies you need such as wax filters and replacement domes/ tips (depending on style of device).
With your consent, we will send out reminder texts or telephone when you are due for an appointment.
• Hearing Aid Repairs and Reprogramming
Hearing Aid Repair
Most hearing aids are in use all day every day and are exposed to moisture, wax and temperature changes, meaning that even when they are well maintained, they can develop faults.
Signs your hearing aid may not be working properly include limited or no sound, intermittent sound, distorted sound and/or problems powering the device. If your hearing aid, charger or accessories stop working, we will be able to book you a service appointment to restore them to working order.
Most repairs can be completed in the clinic but in some cases, they will need to be sent away to the manufacturer. This can take up to two weeks so we will issue you with suitable loan hearing aids whist they are away.
Hearing Aid Reprogramming
If you are a Cathedral Hearing Hearing Aid patient, we will see you annually for a hearing test which includes reprogramming of your hearing aids. If you notice that your hearing is getting worse or you don’t feel that the aids are working as well as they should be, please contact us and we will arrange an appointment to get them working optimally.
We also offer reprogramming of Private Hearing Aids which were not fitted at our clinic (please note we cannot reprogram NHS hearing aids).
As we are independent, we have access to the software for many different makes and models of hearing aids. However, there may be occasions when we cannot connect the hearing aids. Possible reasons for this include the hearing aids are high street ‘own brand’ meaning the software is locked to external providers, the hearing aids are faulty, or the hearing aids are too old to be reliably reprogrammed. Full reprogramming of devices not purchased/fitted at our practice costs £250 including a full hearing assessment.
We do offer repair of Private hearing aids supplied by other providers but this is at our discretion and we will always request an individual quote from the manufacturer before you agree to proceed.
Recycling Old and Unwanted Hearing Aids
If you have old or unwanted hearing aids, please feel free to drop them into our clinic and we will send them to one of our charity partners who will ensure they are put to good use.
Recommend a Friend
We receive so many fantastic recommendations from our wonderful patients. If you would like to recommend a friend or family member, please feel free to share our details or contact the practice and we can provide some information for them.
